I bought myself the DWA-132, not dual band (only 2.4GHz) but it is Draft N-300 compatible and so far I have had no issues in our place :)

Cheap as chips, too

In any event, I got this:

http://www.dlink.com/us/en/home-solutions/connect/adapters/dwa-121-wireless-n-150-pico-usb-adapter

It kind of sucks (in relation to my laptop's signal strength level) - A speedtest with the D-Link gets ~60 KB/s, and the laptop ~500 KB/s.

The issue is certainly that the router is too far away - I have a spare that I will use to extend the range, when I have time, and manage to find some Cat5 in this festering maze of a city. :D
wifi signal shouldn't affect speedtests tbh. Even the slowest type of wifi with bad signal should easily carry 500KB so it should cause a bottle neck.

Still...windows and networking sometimes does weird stuff so who knows.

Well, then I am not sure what the hell is going on. Will test over the weekend.
