I know this is not the answer you want but 5 of my friends have been hit by drunk drivers over the years, so no you are not law abiding and what you did was incredibly stupid and selfish and it really bugs me to see you not taking what you did that seriously
3 times over the limit isn't exactly drunk. It's like 6 beers perfectly normal to do that at a braai and still drive home.

Even better if you've eaten
Most speedcops won't even bother to do anything if you just tell them you had a few drinks. To get into shît like this you need to be completely stupid/wasted/not have a licence/refuse to give the speedcop R50 for a cooldrink or be an entitled asswhole that think he's a law abiding citizen.

I'm going to keep it short and sweet, but I got pulled over for driving under the influence and I was about 3 times over the limit, it's my first offense and I'm really worried about all the things im reading online. My other big problem is I don't have a license either. My court case is Wednesday the 14 of August 2019 and I have a million things running through my mind. Please I really do need advice on the procedure here
Dumbass! Stay of the roads idiot

No its more than that

Alcohol leaves your bloodstream at 0.01 per hour.
So 6 beers at a braai over a few hours... a good portion will be gone by the time you drive home..
You will still be over the limit but nowhere near 3X

Agree with you there, they are quite reasonable, speedcops have breathalyzed me at 3 times as well but I was friendly and not smashed, also contributed to their retirement annuity. I was once pulled over by Police instead of the metro where I was fscked, I mean really couldn't even see but was about 800m from home so they just drove me home, even helped me to bed I kid you not, kind people, but sometimes you get the one in a bad mood, luckily I've been fortunate and don't really do it anymore.

No it wouldnt.

UK is 0.08
SA is 0.05

3 X 0.05 = 0.15

Almost double UK limit
So how much must the avarerge man drink in order to get to 0.15? Or just 0.5.

I could never figure this out. Some people say 1 beer is too much?

One bottle of regular beer (5%) will put you on or close to the limit as far as I know.

I see where you going with this and to be honest I don't really know how to really answer this. But I'm a law abiding citizen and not to yank my own chain I'm a all round good guy. But I my intentions were good before taking that risk... Because I had to fetch the car in beachfront table view and I stay just off Gie road table view.. I couldn't leave the car at risk especially considering all the car theft and car break ins in this area. So my first option is to get my girlfriend home safely and secondly to get our property home safely hence putting many things at risk which I wouldn't deny. But I wouldn't consider myself a murderer or rapist, drug dealer etc.ckearly not a menace to society... So therefor I feel that for one risky mistake I wouldn't give myself the ultimate penalty to go sit in jail with the likes of the above mentioned. No if it was a scenario that I was driving wrecklessly or let's say I caused an accident or even knocked someone over and they died... I'll put myself in jail. You can take it with a pinch of salt or not... Because you are entitled to your opinion... So my question is what do you think I deserve?
Our opinions do not matter, the one that does is that of the magistrate. I suspect that you have already received legal advice, because you are suggesting that your actions were in no way beneficial to yourself.

I for one do not believe what you are saying. If the prosecutor is doing his / her job, he will cross-question you on this, you will fold and the truth will come out. You could get a perjury charge on top of all the mess that you have willfully created.

My advice would be to be a man. Tell the truth and throw yourself at the mercy of the courts. It may spare you a year or two in the long run.

Is it your car and do you drive it regularly? Sure, everyone can make an error of judgment and drive when over the limit but If you regularly drive without a license that won't reflect well on you...

Why dont you have a license? and if you dont have a license then why do you own a car?
Im really confused by that, its not exactly hard to get your drivers.
