Hi guys,
So I need to get a new phone due to wife's going haywire. I'm going to hand it in but it's apparently a common issue so I'm not holding my breath. Anyway, not why I'm here. I'm seizing this opportunity to upgrade mine and giving her my perfectly function Galaxy S5. I'm specifically looking at getting an S8 or S8+. I would prefer the S8+, but man it's pricey...
Anyway, I'm not a big caller or SMSer and my data comes mostly from WiFi connections wherever I am. I use maybe 100 minutes a month to call other people with and around 1GB of data on my phone. I don't do social media things at all, don't do Instagram or whatnot, no Booksface or Twatters, and very little browsing the internet from my phone. I do play games though, so a strong phone is a must. My requirements from the network side is therefore relatively low, and that's where the issue lies.
I can't decide what network to do with. I'm with MTN right now and while it's far from perfect, all networks have their niggles and they're really not that bad. I've had some terrible service from a Telkom Mobile SIM before (specifically at coastal areas) so I'm not sure I want to go that route, but if that's been fixed or cleared up in the meantime I will consider them again. Their prices aren't bad on their networks and they offer good data bundles. I'm not too fond of Vodacom due to their pricing anymore. Cell C is kind of just "there", I have no idea if their offers are any good since their pricing seems a bit "more" than I would have guessed.
On that same topic, how are extras handled these days? I would ideally like a wireless charging dock thingy for the phone, but I'm not worried about a smart watch or those types of things at all.
The biggest win will be to get a cellphone on a contract for 24 months where I can get oldschool "airtime" again. For example, pay R500 a month for the contract (excl phone) and get R500 worth of airtime. With that airtime I'll buy data and minutes and everything I need. That's the best, but it seems those types of contracts no longer exist, do they?
Any help will be appreciated! Oh and PS: It's quite urgent. If I can get it done today still I'll be quite happy.
