No this isn't going to be a thread about sex :p

Well after talking to a good friend about Life and all the rest of it, it dawned upon me that as of late I never finish anything. I'll start off motivated and all but 2-3 months in I lose interest never to be seen again and while this isn't a HUGE issue most of the time; it is something I would like to improve upon regardless. It's kind of important to me

Any one been through this and how did they "hack" their brain into being a finisher.

I'm like that as well. The last activity I failed to complete was to learn to fly an RC heli. After I crashed two I just thought fsck it! Now both heli's are lying in the ceiling :(

Don't do any recreational drugs and haven't had alcohol since I modded my last mafia game.
As to it maybe being ADHD, where would I get this tested? I'm very OCD but managed to get a lid on that.

This is a very common problem. We're programmed to be motivated for short-term wins; anything where the gain is too far ahead in the future is exceptionally hard to stay on track for, even if it's a relatively much higher incentive at the end.

There's a lot of keys to getting around this problem but the main one is to readjust your incentivisation model. Set smaller term waypoints and award yourself when you hit them.

Started doing this and re-evaluating my long term goals @ shorter intervals and setting more detailed way-points but still isn't taking as well as I'd hoped.

This is really good advice!

Maybe check why you started some of those things in the first place. Some things we start for fun without a need/definitive goal in mind, in which its easy to go off track.

Name some examples of theses things you never finish?

For eg my wife asked me to fix a kitchen door and I am quite chuffed that it got it sorted yesterday, the fact that it took me about 7 months to get started, that is another story.

Couple examples:

Kendo - But in all honesty work and school have kept me away from this. I love beating people with Shinai
Japanese, Spanish, French
Playing the Guitar
Working out :(
Cleaning my room
Starting my business
Cleaning the Pool (Drain, clean, patch, fill back up)
