How do you sign up and what sort of commitment do you need to put in to get from a useless sack to putting on a decent show? I am mega unfit, but would be super keen. I am guessing the idea is to get your company and others to sponsor you for charity?

This was a organized by Monks Chinese Take Away as a charity thing.

You had to send them a message on Facebook and sign up - training is for 3 months before the fight. You have to put in MAX effort and go train at the armoury with your group / instructor. You get free training / use of the facilities. You have 3 months to train and then you fight. You get to pick your fighting name and your intro song as well as have an entourage.

Basically we get free training / coaching / facilities - but we fight for FREE.

They then use the proceeds towards charity.

Thats pretty much it.

Hi guys,

On the 13th of July I will be partaking in a white collar fight night with 10 other hopefuls.

All the money goes to charity (from what I've been told).

I've got 3 months to train - I've never boxed before and am slightly out of shape.

Training is provided by The Armoury in Woodstock (Free of charge) and the fight will be at the old Fez building (which has a capacity of 1000!)

Its never wracking to say the least, but here's to doing something I've always wanted to do!

Good luck :) knock yourself out :)

A charity boxing event, nice!!! The rules and regulation regarding charity boxing will keep you alive, but depending on how long the bout last you will surely be sore the next day.

Free? Dude...there is a R900 once off payment, detailed in this weeks email? Maybe it's free for you because you are not technically in the legal services....but ja, for the legal guys it's R900 registration fee. They ask for this payment with the idea being only people serious about this will then participate.

It's free for me. Monks is carrying the cost I guess - I don't know - or perhaps The Armoury is donating their time / premises for charity - who knows... I'm not paying a cent.

Hey... that's the Legal Industry Fight Night...so cmon, which law firm you work for? :D I signed up for it last year...had to withdraw 4 weeks before the fight, still suffering with a stuffed up rotator cuff injury :(

The training is epic! I lost 5 kg's!! :D

Some financial institutions also have it once a year ;)
