R6k for clutch with parts and labour at a dealer? Impossible.

Neither did I. I had to call them to verify that it wasn't a mistake. The clutch kit is 3k brand new, so they made 3k on labour.

Not actually bad at all for a cambelt job.

Going to bet they didn’t do the water pump though so they can charge you all over again when it fails.

Brakes are always an outrageous rip off at dealers. Usually easily done for half the price with the same parts elsewhere.

Yup. They didn't do waterpump so they will score with that. Sneaky lil hobbitses...

Thanks for reminding me, I'll have to buy the waterpump kit and ask the dealership what their labour charge is.

If it doesn't leak, don't replace it.
My car @ 300k +km and still problem free.
Unlike a '90s VW waterpump and thermostat that needs replacing every 90k.

You just said you told them to do it for R6k, so what were you verifying?

To verify - to make sure that they were indeed going to do it for R6k, before I took the vehicle into their workshop.

Clutch at 90k makes perfect sense with those mags and vinyls.

Those Friday nights where you drop that clutch so hard even the spare wheel starts spinning.

“When the clutch drops, the **** stops” sticker should be included with your new replacement.

Makes me wonder if said Spark was a rental car in its early life….then I may be somewhat responsible for the clutch.

Had both my cars serviced by my trusted mechanic, non dealer, both around the R2.7k each mark for full major services in including sparks etc. One car 140k odd ( Hyundai i20 2010 ) other Toyota Avensis 2.0 auto, 150k odo 2008 model.

Some extras over and above on the i20 but reasonable too. I avoid dealerships once out of warranty and plan, way over priced. You do need to find a decent mechanic though as well but word of mouth does wonders.

OP probably ****ed it by trying to heel/toe the poor thing. I did that to my Golf 1 back in the day.

I can believe that.

Took my beat-up armoured Renault 2012 for a 90k km service a few months ago - R7448 at the dealership for cambelt/belts/fluids/oil.

They wanted Another ~12k for the clutch and brakes - I told them "Guys, you are clutching at straws now. Do it for R6k and you have a deal". Strangely enough, they agreed... business is bad for dealerships now with the new laws about servicing vehicles it seems.
You're also clutching.
Could've had it done for 3.

The service cost was amazingly cheap around R3k is what most brands charge just for an oil change and filter on their budget shtbox models.

Even the clutch and other work quote wasn't bad, considering its at a dealer.
