Right so what job do i need to do in order to starting earning a really good salary. Right now i'm in publishing and while i enjoy it, i don't think i'm ever going to earn what i really want to earn in this industry.

I enjoy Advertising, Photography, Design... Basically the more creative side of things.

I've worked in marketing and sales in the motor industry too. So i have some experience there.

Do i need to study something to advance myself in the money scheme of things?

What do i do? Everyone always goes on about IT but i'm not so sure if i have the mind for that. I sucked at maths and science in school.

Help !

Just to clarify, it lists jobs in the areas of: Marketing, Sales, Design, Advertising, Media, etc. It's probably the best source of info for these types of jobs in the country IMHO.

Thanks tco21. I will have a look. I am just dubious as the economy does not ensure great job opportunities at the moment.

Haha you mean....YOUR corner?

Nope my corner is far from busy these days :p
Going into IT does not require maths or science most of the time hey, you do not seem like the IT type. Studies normally bring in more money but experience can make up for lack of studies.

How old are you BTW? you sound young but i am not 100% on that :p, just wondering because if your young then you cannot expect to earn alot i would imagine :).

I want to earn within the income bracket of 20 to 30k.

No offence to you, but I don't think you're going to find a position in marketing or advertising that pays that for a position with no qualification (or at the very least a lot of experience).

Actually the creative side of advertising doesn't pay all that well at all, especially junior positions.

If you have some marketing experience and are keen to get into the business, a starting position in FMCG or durables classical marketing usually pays 10-15K. But be prepared to do dog work for a few years...

Edit: If you want to get into marketing, and you are prepared to temper your expectations of salary... PM me, I might be able to send you some leads.

That's the problem i'm having arf9999. No offence taken at all.

I realise that realistically i need to better myself if i want to earn this. I'm just not sure how to go about this. I have had about 4 years experience in the magazine industry and there are a lot of people doing the same job i do that earn a lot more.

As far as marketing goes i have no proper experience in this as i've only really dabbled in it. Will this be any good? I don't feel so.

What work are you doing now? If you want to make a career change, 25 years old is a good time... If you're interested in marketing, and have some good general business background, you should be able to get a junior marketing position and be able to study part-time. There are plenty of places that offer IMM and BCom courses in marketing, both by correspondence and evening classes.

Client liaison/traffic control and i work in production.

Yea i do feel that i still have time to make changes. I was contemplating a junior position in marketing. I don't know if companies are that keen though on hiring people who want to study part-time. Time off to write exams etc.

Most companies support their staff that want to study. Mine offers employees bursaries for study in the field that they work in. After you've been working there for a year, the company will pay for your studies on condition that you pass and that you work back one year for every year that they cover the tuition costs. If you fail or leave, you need to repay the study loan.

I know of a position available at the moment, it's fairly junior but your background may be suitable. PM me your email address and I'll get a job spec sent to you.
