No such thing as "minimal" damage from even the smallest projectile traveling at 1500+ km/h and rifles can spit out rounds at twice that speed.

+1 for common sense. You don't maybe have a link to a website/video showing the soft tissue damage that projectiles of that speed cause?
I've seen presentations about it but could never find the videos. They basically shot baboons (think they were dead) and recorded the impact with high speed cameras. A 9mm pistol created an 'air pocket' of about 5cm around the bullet - that means even if the bullet has a diameter of 9mm, it's like a 5cm object going through you. That causes severe damage.
