Airsoft: Depends, but up to 800fps.
Air rifle: Usually around 900fps.
9mm pistol: 800-1100fps
303: 2300-2700fps
8mm Mauser: Up to 3000fps*

Some people think getting shot is fine.
The truth is, there's no safe place to get shot. Especially the leg. Hit the femoral artery and it's "neusie verby". Hit someone in the shoulder and it can be very likely fatal, but at the very least you've got a shoulder that's now useless.

Google "meat damage" with regards to hunting. Using biltong-friendly bullets leaves you with around 1-2kg of useless meat.

Well no, what it actually means is there is a 6.33% chance that upon making Nukefission's acquaintance, I may go for a kill shot. I've considered it carefully and a shot to the eye could have the pellet following a path directly to his brain, *sigh* that is, if one is present.
