They are developing a new game called Prison Architect. Now this looks super awesome. I have played the Alpha and it still needs a lot of work but it looks like it is going to be amazing.

Been an avid fan of Introversion since the day I discovered Uplink back in the day. Got a boxed copy of most of their games and even a few extra that are still sealed - Kalahari had them for cheapcheap. I realized with quite a sock last night after I posted that the alpha was out already. Got my hands on Alpha 2 asap and gave it a whirl. At this stage it is beyond my expectations - there are so many game mechanics that I never thought of! I suspect that it will take quite a while (12months +) for them to finish the game properly but that it will be worth it. I am also quite chuffed and proud that such a 'small' company was able to earn R3 100 000 + on an alpha pre-order in under 4 weeks.

Curse is scary at times, all depends on your mood. IGI was an instant hit with me - still got both 1 and 2 around here somewhere. Was challenging but fun. Same with Simcity. It is quite a challenging game. The trick is to start small and grow from there. In that sense I am quite worried that the new SimCity '5' due out next year will be too easy in a way. :(

By the way, there is nothing wrong with just wreaking havoc with your city. I sometimes build long and extensive road networks that span the entire map ... so that residents have a time-incentive to use my speedy overly-tolled highways/avenues. They are financially screwed, and hate my guts, but it is fun!

If you use an emulator.... my list would get a little bigger.
There's gems like Streets of Rage, Rocket Knight Adventures, Final Fight etc....

Icewind Dale is it's own franchise. Plays basically exactly the same as BG.... think that's why I liked it so much.
I wouldn't say ST: O is any different in the MMO scene. You mentioned you liked RP though which is why I mentioned it though. You get fleets that are dedicated RP fleets and those that do it more casually, so even though you may be left with the "end game grind" the RP aspect would keep it fresh.

By standalone do you mean WarZ or the official DayZ remake?

I mean the official DayZ remake.

DOTA 2 nuff said 100000 points please

I got a beta key and played it yesterday. Not for me.
I like LoL and that's about where my MOBA tastes end. I have tried many other MOBAs but League Of Legends is the only good one for what I like.

I just don't like that it is so expensive for just an Alpha. I suppose you do get the full game when it's done. I like to play completed games though :D

System Shock 2
Beyond Good & Evil
Heart of Darkness
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Know of these. Loved Jedi Knight, but way preferred Jedi Outcast. There was a cheat which would make it so you could slice people up with the lightsaber, that was so fun.

System Shock I have tried, not really my thing. Beyond Good and Evil I know of but haven't played, never really held my interest.
Heart of Darkness I played a while ago.

Ground Control ( RTS)
The Incredible Machine
Dune ( RTS)
Heretic
Rise of the Triad
Descent
Oddworld
Earthworm Jim

Then there is one old game where you had these little tanks and had various weapons you could launch at each other.....side view "Worms" style. MIRV, Ton of dirt, Nuke, Mini nuke were some of the weapons you could select. Its on the tip of my tongue....er fingers typing

Ground control looks quite good and it's free which is super cool! I might give it a go although RTS is not really my strong point. 1/2 point.
Incredible machine is a fun game to pass the time, played it a few years ago.
Dune I remember playing a while back, was fairly fun.
Heretic is an awesome game.
ROTT is cool, but for some reason I never played much of it.
Descent was fun I used to play that on a friends computer years back.
Oddworld I played on PS2
Earthworm Jim was a bit lame for me.

The tank game is called Pocket Tanks, It's awesome to play with a friend.

The Void
Pathologic (get it now at http://www.indieroyale.com/)
Time Gentlemen Please and Ben There Dan That
Cryostasis
Amnesia
Audiosurf
Analogue: A Hate Story
Bastion

Some good games for you.

Pathologic I read about yesterday but I'm scared to play cause it looks frightening, otherwise looks excellent... Is it very scary?
I had never heard of Cryostasis before, looks intriguing but super scary! I always toy with the idea of playing scary games but I'm never sure whether I should... 1 point.
Amnesia I have watched a lot of YouTube videos of, looks bloody terrifying, only reason I don't play it.

Audiosurf is sooooooooooo cool I love this game I would recommend it to anyone! It's so fun to just listen to cool music and have something to do at the same time. It enhances music it's surreal.

Analogue: A Hate Story I hadn't heard of, but I doubt I will enjoy it. I'm really not a fan of manga style visual novels etc.

Bastion I have played before, it is a very good game, but I got a bit bored.

And Braid! I forgot about Braid. Definitely a must try.

Braid I have played, it seems quite good but not for me.

I've also played a few games many people love to hate.

One I really enjoyed but was a bit short and was not received well was Tribes Vengeance (FPS) Ive always loved the tribes games with the jetpacks and sliding/ski-ing action

Star Wars The Old Republic is quite fun in the early stages with some mates, doing the Flashpoints is a blast :)

If you are creative there is Spore and aldo The Movies, two games I spent many hours on. Spore eventually became a game where just constantly pushed my own boundaries creating things and got quite involved with the community.

The Movies is a great game, totally underrated.

Spore I actually lost my install CD for it somewhere. I want to play it again though.

Sanity: Aiken's Artifact
Rage Of Mages 1, 2
Starsiege
Wargasm
Never heard of any of these.
After some initial research:

Sanity: Aiken's Artifact looks like some people will really enjoy it, but not really for me... 1/2 point.
Rage of Mages looks a bit 'meh'. One of those games that is good for its time but not really interesting to me.
Starsiege is part of the Tribes series, I never really liked them. Had a look at some videos, think i will give this one a miss.
Wargasm, you get 1/2 point, I don't really want to play this game, but I think it's really cool that there is a classical soundtrack!

Ah! Looked this up, it looks very intriguing and different. My only concern is that it looks a little repetitive. 1 point.
