I want to use my property owner's wifi, what is a decent payment per GB?

I stay with someone else, and they have adsl, I've talked to them and I'd like to hop on their wifi in case my neotel
doesn't perform.

What is a decent rate per GIG, I plan to use 5GB-10GB, plus he downloads +100GB / month.
Thanks

If he has an uncapped connection (which it sounds like he does), it will purely be based on speed of the line IMO.

If he has a 384k ADSL line, then 100gb/month is about as much as you can download with it (if you're not pushing it). So with you jumping on it for 5-10gb a month (or maybe more), it might affect his internet more. Specially if you plan on doing torrents (not sure if you're only planning on doing normal email/youtube/www stuff or not)

The higher his line speed the less chance there is of a slowdown (even though if both of you will be doing torrents you can most likely kiss any kind of performance goodbye).

So depending on his line speed, he'll be paying upwards to R599 for 4mbps last I checked to the ISP. I'd say, if he has uncapped, around R2-5 per gb would be sufficient as a per gb price.

Otherwise you can just ditch your dumbass Neotel connection and pay half of his ADSL costs and share the line (even upgrade it if it's not 4mbps)

Depending on the hardware they're using and if it supports bridge mode you could just sign up for your own data account and share their pipe.

Are you being serious, R2-R5, not R20 to R50?

yes.... seriass....

if you want to pay for your own ADSL ISP you can pay R19/GB from axxess & I've heard of larger capped packages working out to around R9.50 per GB so that price on an uncapped line is not unfair....

R100/month is fair. You don't pay line rental or deal with any billing screw ups so R10 a GB seems fair to me. That said if I had a tenant, the inconvenience of them slowing down my line while I'm waiting for downloads to finish wouldn't be worth R100 to me.

The cheapest prepaid deal is 8ta's 60+60 special for R1800 which works out to R15/GB. So anything under R15/GB is sweet.

I charge my tenant R500pm for unlimited internet and dstv... The flat is wired into my network and they have access to a wifi hotspot as well.
