I really wish that I could do as the subject of this post says, however at the moment I am still without my ADSL connection despite having applied for it in at the begining of March. It took me 3 weeks to get an order number out of Telkom and then armed with this I was able to establish that installation would take place on the 2nd of April. When the Telkom Technician arrived on the 2nd he looked at the line that had to be converted to ADSL, pronounced that it was faulty and left, saying that we would have to get the line fixed before he could proceed. When we reported the line Telkom informed us that there was no problem on it.

We then tried to get in touch with the technician but all we could establish through the enquiry service on 0800456786 was that the installation had now been scheduled for the 28 April.

Asking that this matter should be escalated brought the response from one of the "managers" that they would do our best. Perhaps we should not have asked for special treatment as the 28th came and went but no Telkom. Today I again tried the 0800456786 nuber only to be told that they have again scheduled the installation, this time for the 12th May. Thinking that I have a valid complaint in being delaled 6 weeks after the original installation was due I asked for the matter to be escalted again. This brought the response and I quote "I have sent the matter through to the manager, but you proberbly will not get a reply from him"

being a bit lost here I wondered if anyone has a working contact name and number of a person at Telkom that has the ability to jump start this whole process or failing that a contact for someone who will take a complaint seriously.

Hi Andy

Phone the Pretoria head office (0126806000), and really make a fuss of it. If you really get p!ssed off and start threatening they might respond. Don't worry, you're not alone, it took me 4 months to get mine sorted.

At least you can speak to the same people here.

Telkom service set new standards of disgrace and poor quality every day.

This is what I did.

I went to our local exchange and spoke to one of the techies parked outside. I asked him if the exchange was ADSL enabled. This very nice guy promptly phoned around for me. He found out all the info for me. Within that same week I had ADSL installed and you know what, that same guy phoned me a week later to ask if they had installed ADSL yet. The phone in desk people are very inefficient at Telkom.
