iburst connection

k, when I plug the usb connection in it comes up connected at 10mb/s and then when I connect to internet it brings up connected at 1mb/s but when I use the ethernet connection it brings up the connected at 10mb/s but when I connect/dial it connects at 10mb/s and sometimes 100mb/s, now this is through connecting to internet not the connection to the modem, will I actually go faster on internet and downloads being connected at 10mbs/100mbs or is this just my computer lying to me?

the coonectio you see on your computer, is just a "gimick" if you can call it that, and is not an indication of your connected speed to the internet. The iburst drivers are not that advanced to give you true connection speed
