Serves them right. If they're going to keep mum about the whole thing somebody else will obviously have to tell it.

They deserve it, they tried to cover everything up and now they must pay the price.

If they thought they could keep it hidden they are bigger fools than I suspected. And they were already very high on the fool rating.

does anyone have more information? Somehow I believe that the core degrading is not a result of maintenence or upgrade... it must have been a bigger problem...

could someone post the story here

No doubt more publications will take the bull by the horns and run with this story. Hey, we may even see it make frontpage news like Telkom over the weekend.

What will not change are the usual conveyor belt type statements that are released after episodes such as this.

Bwahahahahahahahahaha! From who?

The only statement released (that I know of) was one from their press officer stating that it was in actual fact not a hacker, but someone who gained access to the reseller protal through the use of a resellers password.

They have not even attempted to allay the fears of their subscribers by sending us a mail stating what actually happened and what they are doing abou preventing it from happening again!

It is called the ostrich approach and they seem to have perfected it.

I think the reverse is true on this. In actual fact even that is untrue. So far it has been no talk and no action (according to our knowledge and their in ability to keep us informed).

But who are they going to catch and for what? Apparently they weren't hacked, according to their official stand point on the whole issue.

This is all very very funny. :D I think WBS are just acting silly. They've been caught with their pants down, and wanna punch someone in the face for it but are unsure exactly who to punch.

They should now just focus on rectifying their initial mess and put this issue to bed cause its getting bloody ridiculous.

Hey Guys ,

Not to dig old skeletons out of the closet , but I mailed Paul Rotherham on 2 Nov about his details (well not sensitive stuff )being shown in the screen shots of that . I just got a call from his assitant (I think) wanting to know more about the situation, but it seems that the screen shots etc have been removed . Did anyone save them , or can anyone scan that article of computing SA as some sort of proof .

EDIT : IGNORE PLS , Paul dont want to take it any further

Prosecution of this person is pretty impossible as far as I know under South Africa legistation. A) How do you proove that the PC that the hack came from was not compramised and used as a relay, B)Proove that the person who commited the hack was in front of that PC exactly at the time was hacked.

All I can say about this, is I am glad it made ComputingSA, prehaps WBS will be more honest with their clients. Next to Telkom, they are the most dishonest company I have ever come from. There is heavy nepatism and other strange going-ons in their office. Good on you ComputingSA, let the truth out!!
