Good day all,

I have recently moved from Johannesburg to Equestria area in Pretoria (out on Lynnwood road, just before you hit Hans Strydom road). According to the coverage models, Equestria does not have coverage, but will have as soon as they install the Silverton tower. Unfortunately, the best estimate for this tower's activation date that I can get from WBS is 'somewhere between March and September'.

Not wanting to have to search for broadband access alternatives again, and being fairly happy with iBurst, I decided to try my luck. Using the desktop modem, and walking/pointing around a bit, I can get intermittend 20-40% coverage for short bursts (seconds, at most). I figured this must be a good sign that there is at least some signal (presumably from the CSIR tower).

I phoned one of the iBurst people, and they can't demo an antenna for me, but I can buy one, and return it if it doesn't help. Ideally, I would just like to know whether it will work before I go through this hassle. Has anybody here tried to do this in that area (yes, I did google for previous posts - I don't think I missed them, but sorry if I did!)? My exact location is the Goldenfields complex, just off the corner of Furrow and Cura roads.

Also, it would seem that it might be ideal for iburst to install the antenna, than for me to try align it - is this the case? iBurst didn't mention any of this - I picked it up just now from a previous post.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Tontel
