Ok now i dont know what is going on but I have tried to connect to iburst on 2 different linux machines and then with a liveCD.

Here is the catch, it connects immediately with windows with out a problem.

I am using Gentoo with the latest version oh rp-pppoe.

Update: I have tried with both Knoppix and Ubuntu... NADDA!

Anyone other Gentoo or Linux users having issues with iBurst?

WBS here is a heartly #@$#! you!

I'm going with user error. I setup about 7 or 8 ibursts on linux boxes with no problem. Crash also has one running on a ipcop box (which is linux based)

Instead of blaming WBS, how about u spend more time making a constructive post and actually put in the error message or details on what is happening when it tries to connect.

Mr DFantom,

You replied to a message that was posted on the 'Last edited by Ravilj : 02-11-2005 at 11:55 PM' when there were problems. If you went to the other I burst threads you would have seen that Dlink, linksys and linux apps all had the same problems. But you already knew that 'cos you read the other postings and now feel like a real bananna for flaming the poor chap.

Thank you Richard.

I would like to think I can get around a linux system. I think I ruled out user errors after testing 2 different linux machines and then with a knoppix and ubuntu liveCD and getting the same result. Added to this setting up a connection with rp-pppoe is not exactly intellectually challenging, adsl-setup... adsl-start... After this point it timed out while attempting to authenticate with the server.

So I suppose I should of added this in the above post: TIME OUT

Either way post taken out of context.

I definately believe the techies at WBS are currently 'experimenting' with their network to find new ways to manage (restrain) supposedly 'abusive' users and to plug recently exposed security holes.

Problem is their cowboy methodology to doing this is stuffing it up for all of us.

Try setting the mtu --- I know you ganna hate me for saying that, but their have been times on ipcop and windows that it just wouldn't connect without mtu set.

Maybe I was dreaming or am brainwashed by the helpdesk .... "Set mtu.... set mtu... have you set mtu.... what about mtu? .... Linux is unsupported but you can try set the mtu .... umm... ahhh... did you set mtu?"

I'm still connecting with Ubuntu Breezy. I've never touched the mtu since I've had iburst. I use the rp-pppoe that came with Ubuntu. Sometimes it does take a few attempts to connect though.

Iburst works with Fedora 4

I am fairly new to Linux and I installed the iburst UTD on Fedora 4 without any problems. It is almost as user friendly as Windows. I now use that as my server and proxy with squid. Still a lot of things to learn.
