Iburst service or the complete lack thereof

Hi All

I need a little help. I was recently looking at getting broadband, and the fact that one of my clients makes use of iburst, I thought that this woudl be a good idea. So we contacted the helpdesk to ask if there was service in our area, to which was replied, that it was excellent. Yes I know, I should have said send someone out to test, but I thought that iburst was better than other SA companies. So we went ahead and ordered, only to find out that the signal is terrible (most of the time the modem sits with a little red light on and when it actually gets a signal I get 1 green light 0-20% signal strength, but mostly 0%) and that I should have gone with someone else. I contacted WBS and was told that an external aerial would solve my problems in life and connections. So after waiting a week for an aerial I tried it, but it makes no difference, except that the signal is actually worse.

So now I contacted the helpdesk and got promised that someone would be out the next day to solve my problems. yes I know I should have known better. So 2 days later I am pulling my hair out. I contact the person I spoke to in sales, and got told, that she would sort something out for me, and phone me back, after 4 hours of waiting I finaly called her back. She had done absolutly nothing. The support people don't have clue either. I have spoken to brick walls that have more intelligence. I evetually got hold of some who would come out and test my signal and install the aerial and make it all work. Unfortunately there are only 2 of them, and they seem to be booked up until the year 2025.

So my main aim with this is to ask what can I do? I am ready to take the UTD and the external aerial and shove it up someones rear end. Is there anyone out there that can help me, or can give me some information or a person that I can talk to that can actaully help and sort out my problem. I can't beleive that the service from WBS is this bad. At the moment, I am wanting to cancel with them as I can't afford to pay for something that does not work properly.

So any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Deadmeat-

First of all, I need to know where you are located so I can confirm you are in a poor reception zone.

If you are in fair range of a tower I'll try and help solve your problems.

Feel free to PM me about this

DeadMeat, welcome to MyADSL :).

As suggested by Shaun Green @ WBS, send him a p.m. to arrange a site visit...

However, if you have had iBurst for less than 7 days, I recommend that you return the UTD, and cancel the contract on the basis that WBS must send someone out to demonstrate that they can get you a perfect signal with the external antenna - otherwise it is really not worth the frustration of using iBurst at all...

Also, my advice to any potential iBurst customers - do not get your iBurst from WBS - rather go through a reseller, and get the reseller to come out and do a demo before putting pen to paper - make sure you choose a reputable reseller though [search the iBurst forum or ask forumites] :).

Just as a matter of interest; why did you think so?

It is a well known fact that WBS is a joke.

Hi All

Thanks for your replies, and to Kei thanks for the help I really appreciate it.

As to BBSA, sorry didn't know they were that bad at the time. I should have spent more time going through these forums before ordering. But as they say 20/20 hind site is a perfect science. I am just sorry WBS are as bad as they are, cause if they took the time to try and help, they could have a really good product. But then that would take money away from the MD getting a big bonus.

Again to all those people that tried to help me out, I really appreciate it. I have since cancelled with them, and as soon as my modem goes back it will just be a bad dream, which thankfully I will soon wake up from.

Thanks

It's a pity the way iBurst has been pulled down by WBS who besides been a totally useless sa company have the damn cheek to be greedy as well!!!

We all should have known better before we subscribed to WBS, but then I guess we all thought they just might be different from the other greedy sods.
