well, its about time, honestly. I was wondering when they were going to be caught out. They should have had some disclaimer such as "under ideal lab conditions" or something

I wonder how long it will take iburst to rectract their marketing material. Going by telkom's example itll take quite a while since telkom have yet to remove their dobroadband speed claims

so who is going to lodge a complaint again Sentech? If Sentech gets nailed then no internet provider in this country can claim anything withregards to speeds!!! That really leave internet in SA in a very bad light!!! At the moment, Sentech is the only people that can still claim anything about internet connection speeds!!

Seriously, do these okes get fined when they make these outrageous claims or do they just get a slap on the wrist. If they dont get fined, they should.

I guess Neotel will have to take note - do not advertise speeds. Maybe under-advertise the speeds so that customers are getting better service than they thought they would get instead of vice versa. :)

if my 384K ADSL service was advertised as 300kbps service, it would be accurate. I never go above 316kbps, ever. 82% of the advertised speeds yet you pay for 100% of the speed :(

I am afraid to say, that as far as I am concerned. There is no such thing as broadband in South Africa and the way things are going, we problably will never have. Broadband as far as I am concerned is a speed of no less than 512kbs. Anything less than that is simply not broadband. So, if they are not able to garrantee speeds of 512KBS then they can not call it broadband. It is sad to see in South Africa, we set our standards so low.

This evening I saw an "SABC Mobile" advert that claimed iBurst was up to 17 times faster than dialup...

What time period does the ASA allow for ads to be removed?

I was under the impression that the word "immediately" accompanies the ASASAnation of one or more adverts that have to be 'withdrawn in their current form and may not be used again'.

Well he reversed time once by flying around the earth 7 times per second. I guess he can stick to his claim. America would love a bullet that can travel around the earth 7 times a second before hitting a target. Even if it's just for fun! **** it! I WOULD LOVE IT!!! :D
