My iBurst Termianl_UTL taskbar icon is as follows. The help file informs me that that means

Code:
iBurst Terminal is not connected to the PC.

Should I be able to connect if that's the case. And more importantly is that affecting my connection speed?

ok to the first thing, you see that icon if it cannot detect the UTD, meaning if its not plugged in USB, so if you have it plugged in with ethernet you should see that too.

the limited or no connectivity thing... did you recently update to SP2 from SP1?

Jongi, do you have the UTD or UTC?

Also, the Limited or no connectivity XP problem is covered in the FAQ thread :).

I have a UTD on XP SP2. The Ethernet port that the modem is connected on is built into the motherboard. Xp has it as a Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC. Am I better off connecting it to the USB port?

I'll go check the FAQ

not better off but you cannot use the iburst terminal over ethernet, only usb thats why you have that icon, you may as well shut that program off its useless to you on ethernet.

perhaps plug into usb to get details info on your connection, so you can tweak it as you will get a better signal read out than the leds on the unit and a frame error rate, it also shows how much you downloaded and the system tray icon blinks if data is sent or received, aside from that it doesnt do anything fancy, its a simple app

OK so it is now connected to the USB and the 1st problem is solved.

The 2nd one still persists and if you check out the FAQ you will see that I have tried the solution and I still have a problem

Answer is simple ... PPPoE uses bridging not IP to communicate. The limited or no connectivity mean IP (actually DHCP) could not get an IP address.

Simple solution, un-tick TCP/IP in your protocols for your adapter. Its not need for PPPoE (unless you use the interface for other IP comms as well ... then manually set the IP addr).
