months after canning Iburst, I get an account for this October..

here's the thing I sent back to their accounts department
----------------------------------------------------
To Whom It May Concern

As I'm not a customer of yours, and havent been for quite a long time - I'd appreciate it if you stop sending me bills for imaginary services that I am not part of, or responsible for.

I attach the bizarre account you sent me, for 'services' for October.

I am NOT a WBS customer, so please stop sending me any accounts, bills or whatever.

I sold my Iburst modem some time back, so if my former modem serial number is causing you to think I am still a customer - think again. I am not.

Please go bill someone else.

regards

nope - and to make matters weirder. Got this mail yesterday, from vanee.balli@wbsmobile.co.za - I'm putting it here so that if any other ex-IBurst customers get mails from this person, they can be warned.

(I phoned Shaun Green last night - gaw bless him - and he said he'll sort it out.)
----------------------SNIP

Dear XXX

I have notice that the amount R3 324.87 is still unpaid, I also refer to
your email sent
According to my system you have not yet cancelled your contract. The aboveamount outstanding is for bandwidth purchased. If the amount was paid will you please fax me copies of receipt so that I could rectify the account.

Regards

VANEE
=============================

So not only is my IBurst contract NOT cancelled - I suddenly appear to owe thousands of rands.

Luckily - as I do work at SABC often - I manually came into the office and paid cash EVERY time I purchased bandwidth, something that many of the folks at IBurst can attest to.

So this email is some serious bullsh*t.
I've sent a snotty letter back, telling this person that 'well your system is wrong' - and I owe nothing, and my contract WAS cancelled a long time back, and to check with the CEO AND Shaun Green (and Cathy from accounts) - who all saw my cash payments for b/w as well as my contract cancellation.

Furthermore - the idea that I should even BOTHER to have to 'prove' that my contract is cancelled, or that I paid for bandwidth, is utter nonsense.

If IBurst and its new financial officer can't keep accurate records, its not my problem, its theirs. When I left IBurst, I owed them no money at all. Suddenly I supposedly owe over 3 grand, and this thing wants me to waste time, money and energy to do her work for her and fax her 'proof' that I don't owe anything - as well as telling me that my contract WASN'T cancelled.

Bollocks.

If anyone else gets similar emails out of the blue, post them - so we can all see if this is a new developing corporate tactic - or just brain farts from a particularly out-of-the-loop financial person.

Makes one thing how nice a News24 headline will look: "iBurst Sued for Fraud because they over-bill".

Might get the shareholders to start to give a sh*t about what's going on in the WBS Offices.
