hi everyone

Since, iBurst's network crash, which was apparently resolved yesterday, I can no longer surf the internet or retrieve emails on my PC, although everything works fine on my Mac.

My PC and Mac are connected to a netgear wireless router. No configurations were changed since before the network crash. On the mac, I can do everything... ping, retrieve mail, access websites, etc. On the PC, I can ping any site on the internet just fine, can skype, but cannot retrieve/send mail or surf the internet (with one exception). Funnily enough, I can access the wbs website on the PC, but not any other site. All settings MTU sizes, etc. are the same on the Mac and PC. I've tried using both Firefox and IE - no difference!

Is anyone experiencing a similar problem? Any idea what this might be?

I have run a full spyware and virus scan on the PC and nothing has turned up. I am thinking that WBS have modified their proxy software in some way, since everything was fine before the network outage and I have not changed my settings since then.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem here and I'm in hyde park... I assume that due to the degrading core your proxies have been disruppted?

anyhow I've gotten myself a openVPN and at least now I can surf and browse the net.

Try :

Set your DNS servers to 196.25.255.34 and 196.25.255.3
or
196.25.160.2 and 196.25.1.1

Interesting...

I have a 4 pc wireless network at home. In the past few days, I have only been able to email or surf on the pc that is directly attached to the Iburst modem. All the other PCs, although connected to the network, can't see the Internet Gateway. Once or twice I've managed to get intermittant connectivity, but it doesn't last long.

Yet, it's all been running perfectly for months and months. I changed nothing.

I'm also in Hyde Park. Could it be something to do with the new Illovo BS? Maybe the BS has been misconfigured in some way...

I'm at a complete loss to explain it, and tearing my hair out.

Simply put .... WBS's core still seems broken!

They haven't even put the TOTAL breakdown of their service on the "Incidents" page ... WHAT IS GOING ON !??!

These morning I had no signal and when it came back, I couldnt connect for about an hour.

The maintaince scheduled for the next two months is doing more harm than good IMO

apprently word of mouth from Thumi is they are upgrading the "routers/switches"

no clue what that means...

The upgrades are supposed to be related to quality of service ... so unless they've designated only icmp as high priority they are breaking something ;-) grin
