Icann asks to be freed from US government

Net neutrality has become a hot topic with many nations bitterly disputing the right of the US government to control the addressing system through Icann.

Icann has now stepped in and asked to be freed from the official control that the US government exerts over it.

It seems that Icann had to meet certain objectives to prepare to become a more independent body and according to Paul Tworney, president of Icann, those objectives are essentially complete.
