Icasa’s competition probe too late?

Why’s Icasa confused about lacking competition in a market it’s been ‘regulating’?

if this review is to be worth anything - and we have not seen the terms governing it yet - it must focus on the future. what will the competitive landscape look like in 5 years (which is any event the likely conclusion date for implementation) should inform possible interventions now and also highlight which of the current regulations are handbrakes.

it seems though to be largely another attempt to "deal with" multichoice - perhaps they should listen to Mr Bekker and drop their current stance on IPTV for a starter....

ICASA should sit on that probe which will reveal many of the reasons for a lack of competition in the telecoms sector.
