Icasa draft regulations require mobile operators to collect biometric data - to stop SIM swap fraud

Do these people know how Sim swaps happen?

Collecting my biometric data is not going to solve the crime syndicate issue at Vodacom.

Mybroadband please do a real article to educate people on where the actual issue is and how this is not at all a solution.

I wonder if the idiots really understand by creating all these non-sensical laws, one day, someone will have to enforce them and then we all suffer. Right now we have no enforcement on anything.

Biometric data? This is Africa, that will be difficult to keep track of.

How goes the FPB with watching every YouTube video ever and giving them their approval?

The Incompetent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) are as per everything anc a waste of time money and need to go.

If it meant I didn't have to drive all the way to a branch to get scalped R35 for a SIM swap after answering annoying questions to boot, I'll consider it.
