ICASA getting ready to fight out-of-bundle billing court challenge

ICASA is preparing its answering affidavit for the urgent interdict against its data expiry and out-of-bundle billing regulations, brought against it by Cell C.

Cell C approached the High Court in Johannesburg on 7 June 2018 to interdict ICASA from enforcing its amended End-User and Subscriber Services Charter.

Is there any evidence that Telkom is following the new ICASA regulations? (since they are not appealing the implementation of them)

I had many Gigs of LTE data (contract and extra) expire at the end of June, without any option to roll the data over.

MyBroadband should do a survey on how compliant the various operators are.

Cell C, MTN, Telkom, and Vodacom requested an extension for the implementation deadline of the new rules, as they said they needed more time to make the necessary technical changes.
Yeah, definitely nothing implemented as yet AFAIK.

MTN already have a system inplace to stop a user from being carged OOB rates.

When depleting data and your run out of data, MTN prompts you you can disable OOB charges.

However, even if you disable OOB usage, you still get billed when continuing your data usage (It seems that this might happen due to MTN always keeping 15KB of data in your data bundle, however this 15KB is not used, ever)
This is a very dodge move.

Initial 15KB, not big deal.
