While this sounds like a daunting and time consuming exercise, ICASA is confident that the full process can be completed in as little as a couple of months.

Another couple of months??? In a couple of months it will be TWO years since we first lodged the complaint! This is totally ridiculous as far as I'm concerned. In the meantime, how badly are ICASA letting us be screwed by Telkom? Lets say we're being overcharged by R500 p/m (thats a conservative estimate - remember we used to pay around R1000 for 512). Over TWO years thats R12 000!

Grrrrrrrrr

"ADSL users now await the publication of the draft regulations in the Government Gazette."

after they have gazetted the draft regs., does telkom have to fall inline with them or can they wait until the final regs. have been published and continue to rape south africans.

Well it does sound positive at least... They're cutting it awfully close with the possible price increases in November...

What I dont understand is why ICASA hasn't implemented a product "freeze" on Telkom ADSL, pending the results of their regulations.
They need to do this now to prevent November from happening.

Of course logic doesn't really exist in the world of government institutions...mainly just corruption.

LOL - Teklom pissed you off so much you forgot how to add. Try 24 000 - for semi-decent internet access.

Listen people - this is one MAJOR victory, don't begrudge it. Remeber to expect a 6 month period before it actually kicks in as well.

The funny thing is that at this moment I am the most p1ssed off I've been with Telkom ever. Had a BIG fight with the accounts department yesterday because I've been charged for this months TelkomInternet ADSL account when it was cancelled already. (Surprise Surprise). I refused to pay the overcharge of R249 this month just to be credited next month. I was told my line would be cut off if I didn't pay. Why should Telkom get interest on MY money for the month when it was THEIR mistake?? That totally infuriated me! Together with the fact that I was still getting those damn irritating bandwidth usage reports even though over the past few weeks several people had promised they would stop them. I blew up yesterday - that really was the last straw for me.

But, back to the subject of my maths :) I'm saying we've been overcharged by no less than R500 per month for 24 months = R12 000

Maybe they should put in a retroactive payback clause ;)

Couple ~ 2 suggests they plan on having this in place before the November Telkom tariff changes.

@ VQuest - My Apologies.
Seems me reading skills have been broken from too much rereading of the stupid telecoms act and teklom's policies.

Too little too late. Just like the SNO. Every delay from ICASA means billions in Telkoms back pocket.

Actually that is the basis of a good argument with the DOC et al.

Perhaps the delays have been all deliberate to ensure that Telkom makes its Billions out of the SA Public in the interim, with clouds of paperwork and excuses.

Am I the only one who got funny looks from his boss when I started swearing loudly after reading this?

While this is going on Telkom are just going to be shafting us harder, especially if the rumours surrounding the new pricing structures for ADSL accounts is true.

50% discount for schools are also supposed to be the 'law'. How long since it's been 'law'?? And?? Still no discounts????

Blow telkom up to kingdom come, that's what I say, they simply just could not care for their customers, the country, or it's laws.

Imagine that, blowing up a couple of Teklom sub stations, that would be a joke. It would have to be a lot of sub stations, but hey. THe chaos it would cause and the money they would lose, not to mention the fact that business will be able to sue them for loss of income, even though it were not their fault.
