Bring it on — Icasa to Telkom

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) is forging ahead with plans to auction off sought-after radio frequency spectrum.

This is despite threats from Telkom that it would reinstate an application to interdict the auction if Icasa did not “carefully consider the prudence of proceeding”.

Can't believe they even entertained Telkom's veiled blackmail threats here. For the better of us all, this spectrum needs to be opened up.

Promises promises, all analogue TV transmissions were meant to end by 31 January 2022 to clear up the valuable frequency spectrum for mobile networks to use, thus decreasing the cost of data. The powers that be couldn’t even get that right.

Telscum think they still have the copper monopoly pfft
