So ICASA needs bailout money to pay salaries.
Close down this absolutely useless and toothless organisation

Yes all they want to do is fight even when there is no need to do so.
This new DOC Minister maybe worse than the others.

So which network provider has bribes with DoC minister? Seems an argument with 5G rollout and one can only think MNO bribe or party funding requires a few ducks to be in a row?

So ICASA needs bailout money to pay salaries.

It’s not a bailout.. their annual budget is withheld.

hopefully gone in the next cabinet in 2 weeks.

Dunno.. I think this could drag on pending what’s happening. Now if the ministers want to drag 5G rollout maybe we should check who who isn’t ready for 5G rollout.

Why on earth would the minister want them to hold back on 5G? Is there any logical (non-bribery related) reason for this?

Wait what, I pay taxes 3 times on the same money.
Business tax to SARS
License fees to ICASA
Personal tax to SARS
All this goes to the national budget, no wonder business's are battling to stay a float.
Tax in every shape, size and form. And that's just the tip of the iceberg, Eskom bills are also a form of tax if you look at it.

The whole issue is beyond pathetic! How can a Minister withhold the annual budget for a chapter 9 institution without just cause?
Why in the Wolrd do license fees all go into the National Treasury pot anyway?

The sooner the ANC as a govt are dumped the better!

BS! License fees are a legitimate expense on your company which is deductible before profit.

In fairness, they did put out the call termination regulations and data roll-over and transfer regulations which brought some real change.

That said, you won't see love for ICASA from me. But the fact is that this is not a bailout.

ICASA has said that it generates R1.3 billion for the national fiscus in licence fees, and receives a fraction of that for its own operations — around R400 million this year. The problem is that the Minister is allegedly withholding that funding to try and manipulate ICASA for her own political ends.
