Do they actually have this information from Telkom finally?.. or are they hoping Telkom will MAYBE be in a good mood and give it to them eventually?

Perhaps testimony in itself that they have never effectively done so in the past?

I seem to remember them requesting a load of information from TELKOM during the ADSL hearings regarding pricing. What ever happened to that, bet they never concluded that.

This obviously means ICASA is not expecting true competition for telkom anytime soon. Otherwise this would not be necessary!

I thought the COA stuff was done 6 months ago. Guess ICASA realised they dont have the necessary expertise to do this stuff and will now get professional help. It wont surprise me if it is the same company that compiled the reports that are asked to interpret it for the ICASA councillors. :)

A very short time to get a consultant in I think - with November approaching and anyway do they also need a consultant to inform them of the fact that Telscum has been breaking the law wrt local capping?

Too much, too late but lets give them brownie points (yes I'm referring to turd)

I hate sounding negative about these things, but does anyone think it's going to help?

It seems that when telscum doesnt like an ICASA ruling then they ignore it.
That and the fact that anyone working for ICASA is paid by the government who have an interest in most of the communication companies making profit.

So im really hoping its not going to be the old case of ICASA *looking* like they are doing something to keep the public quiet for a bit longer....

With all due respect, the price cap regime is one of the few things that has actually helped contain telkom's prices.

I would definately agree with Debbie2 on this one, without the price cap regime, Telkom would probably be charing in excess of double what it is atm.

It's in the hands of a very competant councillor.

Why should you care about any of this? Cos you potentially could be waving bye-bye to that lovely little annual ADSL reduction you have become so fond of :)

But at the same time, we could MAYBE wave good buy the the excessive ADSL line rental we have to pay could we not? Or the excessive amounts of money we have to pay for bandwidth?

That's being dealt with as a separate issue TB.

Well its being dealt with, albeit at ICASA blinding pace :)

I think anything that regulates Telkom in some decent way is a good thing.
