ICASA's new black ownership regulations for ISPs and telecoms companies coming soon

ICASA said the final regulations related to equity ownership by black people and minimum BEE levels for licensees will be published this year.

The authority said it has a mandate to promote the economic empowerment of black people in general, and women, youth, and the disabled in particular.

This, ICASA said, is done through ownership and control and the development of human resources, training, and capacity building of historically disadvantaged individuals.

Let's benefit a select few by passing on the additional cost to millions that are dependent on broadband.

That is governments logic to everything. More taxes, more laws, more redtape and paperwork.

Seems all the more this is a permenent disability.

It will be accelerated again in 3-5 years, or enhanced as it is dubbed nowadays. However, there is a chance that the regulation may include an incremental change scheme as with sports.

Here is thing with the Telecom (and ISP) industry, the state will be quick to penalise those who don't abide even when it isn't always possible to be within compliance due to changing circumstances.

Anyway, as it stands, organic growth isn't an option any more.

Most ISP companies were created post 1994.
Post 1994 we all had equal opportunity.
Why do ICASA need racist rules now if blacks had same rules post 1994?

Asking for a friend.

In short, disabled black female kids are a winner this time round ...................

Because Isucka failed to lay the groundwork where black businesses are able to thrive. Now we have an industry dominated by a select few individuals that hasn't changed much since 1994. The solution? Do what has worked so well for our economy so far... :whistling:

Tbh, I would rather close my company than just hand over 30% to a fool that I still have to train to do his job as a 30% owner. Freeloading off my years of hard work to build something for my kids ain't going to work for me.

At least I have options to get out of this Africa Problem

And that's why the Anc is useless but let's make the rest of sa also useless by forcing them to appoint 30%ers so that we can look better
