It's wonderful to see these positive stories. Just wish icasa would see the light but sadly ideology trumps pretty much anything that makes business sense.

Does anyone know as yet if they’ve even applied for a license or is the assumption that they’re taking the “why bother” approach?

Yet another more than 24 hour power outage and I’m able to get work done thanks to Starlink. If I were to listen to ICASA, my only options would be low speed ans expensive satellite ISPs. I wouldn’t be able to work and would likely just emmigrate and they would lose my tax.

Starlink has not helped cadres' offshore bank accounts yet. This is not allowed.

the ANC does not want smart educated people like yourself, they want poor desperate and illiterate masses, they can throw t-shirts to while driving through the streets,
in a G63, they want to make it as hard as possible for knowledge and education to reach into the furthest corners of the land,

to be honest actually surprised they dont hire "starlink inspectors" from the masses of poor people to go around intimidating starlink owners and confiscating their dishes.

It's all about smoke and mirrors

The criminal cadres wash their money with large corporate's buying shares etc. If you can't buy or have free shares you won't operate. Also the uneducated voters must continue being uneducated and hence the propaganda channels the anc has kept open at huge cost must remain otherwise the uneducated will be enlightened to the cadres dis-functionality and crimes.

They are thicker than their voters if they don’t want my tax money. But yeh… they are doing their damndest to get high income earners to leave… unless you’re a government employee.

Starlink is a great service however it is not the only LEO satellite service available in country. I just cannot understand how the government continues to push Starlink aside for political reasons when it is clear for all to see that our economy is in very bad shape, especially in rural areas where a good internet service with high speed and low latency can help many employers exploit markets more efficiently. e.g Mining is a great example where reliable, fast connectivity with latency under 100ms opens opportunities to aggregate costs through cloud computing.

The government must decide whether they want grow the economy or bleed the country dry through outdated ideology and greed.

They’re the only affordable LEO provider to consumers. Unless I’m missing something?

Starlink a game-changer for South African farms, fishermen, rural schools, and cancer screeners

This is the reason ANC should put aside ideological rules and allow these kinds of beneficial infrastructure.
Over 75 countries have approved Starlink on SpaceX terms - there is no excuse.

Ideology above all else. This is how our government operates.
