Now the big question:

Are they (and the other parties) going to put some action where there mouths are?

What we need is loud political mouths in parliament as well as other public political forums were reporters can pick it up and report on.

Political Warfare...us?

Well, now the ID are getting involved in this, i cant help but wonder if this is just to get SA's support by saying 'they help the people'. is this really a sincere act of protecting the people or just another reason to pull in more votes?
But hell, who cares as long as Telkom gives in right?

This is all just political manoeuvring. The ID will put up as much fight as the Red Roman I had for supper last night. They want publicity and votes, elections are coming up. Making a statement like this is merely an attempt at gaining the sympathies of all you guys. As someone said above, they should put their money where their mouth is. I wont be surprised if this is the last thing we hear from the ID, atleast until they get another opportunity to "get involved" and gain some more publicity for themselves.

Political parties have a tendency of riding on the hard work of others.

celeborn, with all due respect, I don't think you know what you are talking about. The ID's communications representative has an extensive track record on this issue.

Please be careful about posting on issues which you don't know anything about.

With all due respect Debbie2, what have they done that hasnt ridden off the hard work of the members of myadsl? Where exactly have they contributed apart from telling you how they sympathise with us?

Statements dont make track records. Actions speak louder than words.

After some searching on the forum, I haven't found much "action" from them, only words.

Yours,
Celery

Hmmm, well this is not a political forum, it is a forum mostly about broadband - both from a technical & hulpmekaar point of view, as well as news and consumerism, so I don't expect to find political parties posting on MyADSL - besides that would be seen as trying to win votes anyways by our forumites...

At this stage we need public and political condemnation of TelkoDemonopoly's extremely arrogant threats to sue ICASA, and withdrawing ADSL...so any statements to that effect from any political party should be welcomed - rather leave it to individual voters to decide whether politicians were just trying to score votes...
