I went to get a smart tab yesterday at a vodacom 4u store wanted to pay cash for it the sales lady then asked for my id to make a copy and said i must fill out insurance and waranty paperwork! I refused and asked why my id is required for cash sale i wasnt taking a sim and wasnt interested in insurance and warranty they then refused to sell me the tablet , i questioned the sales lady but she couldnt give me an answer as to why the manager then mumbled cpa :confused:wtf
i want the tab but i dont want to be forced to fill paperwork i dont want and give my details if it not on contract

Is this right? Or are they taking the piss

Cash promos are sold with a prepaid sim. This prepaid sim needs to be activated for the store to claim back the rebate amount from Vodacom to make that promo price possible. For the prepaid sim to be activated, it needs to be RICA'd. To be RICA'd, a customer ID must be supplied.

The Vodacom Smart Tab is on promo for R999.00. This is subject to instore purchase of a prepaid sim and activation thereof.

As for the warranty info etc. This is to protect the store against future claims of a customer coming back and saying that the tablet that he chose does not suit his needs etc by using the CPA.
