OK guys, my dad is going to singapore in the next few days so I have an oppurtinity to pick up an xbox 360 quite a bit cheaper than I could ever get it here. Now here is the big question, I either want a PS3 or xbox 360, I'm a PS3 fan but it might make more practical sense to get the Xbox 360. But, here is my theory; I'm already running a high spec PC and since xbox and PC games are very similar I'm expecting many of the xbox games to get ported to PC ie Halo etc but perhaps no as many from PS3 to PC ie Gran turismo 5 and Metal Gear Solid etc.

So i'm just asking your opinion, doesn't it make the most sense to use a PC and PS3 rather than a PC and xbox 360 in order to get the broadest spectrum of games?

As far as I know the games on PS3 are not going to be as exclusive as they were previously.
If I recall correctly Granturismo for one is not exclusive to PS3 anymore, but will released on XBOX360.
PS3 is also a bit of an unknown still, whereas the XBOX360 has been proven.

GT5 on XBOX360??? I think not since Polyphony Digital (devlopers) are part of Sony and it ahas always been one of its trump cards. Searched this and couldn't find anything about GT5 on XBOX360.

I do believe GT5 will still be exclusive to PS3, as will Metal Gear Solid 4. However, There are equivalent (some exclusive) titles coming to, or available for the 360, such as PGR3, or Forza 2. Physical performance wise they're basically on par.

PS3 is unfortuantely, currently losing a lot of exclusivity, and whole titles unfortunately due to the high cost of developing for the platform. The 360's realtionship with the PC is a strength as
a. Developers can target both, thereby deferring cost
b. Live! Anywhere will see synergis between the two platforms
So a lot of the Hi-Def stuff is moving over to those two, and all the gameplay oriented qirky stuff is moving to the Nintendo Wii.

Also, you can get a 360 now, with shortages and all you're probably not going to see a PS3 till next year.

My perspective is, get the 360 for your hi end Hi-Def games you can play now. (make sure it's a PAL one otherwise you're going to have to keep Games from the East. Which most people do anyway ;) ) Then get the Wii when it comes out as well for those quirky insane Japanese games that won't make it to the 360.

That'll be the best of both worlds and cost you less that 1 PS3.
