Identity theft is costing South African businesses a fortune

In a similar vein ...

Of late, I have been getting calls from all sorts of people, obviously they know my name and cell number .... from who knows where.

Its been the Hyperama, Loan company 1, 2 and 3, insurance companies and the like.

Finally put Truecaller on the phone to stop this schidt!
 
I am not surprised because doing anything these days requires one to produce a copy of their ID, and a copy is taken.
For example, Tafelberg furnishes require a copy of your ID for any transaction of R5000
So their staff have a copy of my ID and my credit card details

And they sell this to the criminals, just like the restaurant waiters do
