Hi

When i try to login to some secure sites (my @lantic server & UFiling) from this PC, I get told that the login was unsuccessful. However, using the same login details from another PC, I have no problem logging in. I suspect it must be some settings on IE8 causing the problem. I have not changed my security settings or Virus protection (Norton) and this is a relatively new problem (could still login to the same sites a couple of weeks ago).
Is there someone out there with some advice please?

The best thing about IE8 is that you can use it to download Chrome.

IE 8 is a crap browser, no doubt, but actually one of the most secure! Flash is the biggest issue with security in IE 8. Chrome is my favourite browser though, and acknowledged to be the most secure. I couldn't recommend it enough.
This is what the Pwn2Own winner said about browser security: (source)
When asked what he thought would make the safest OS and browser combo, he opted for Chrome or IE8 on Windows 7, with no Flash installed, although "there probably isn't enough difference between the browsers to get worked up about."

For my money, the juiciest quote from the interview was "The main thing is not to install Flash!"
