Right now I wouldn't, because my home has fibre.

But if I moved, and Starlink was available, then the requirement for fibre falls away for the right property/location.

This.

If pricing is below the 00 rand mark for rural communities

yes definetly, can I afford it, that depends on how much it will launch, after all prices will be expensive to pay for the ANC bribes,

I voted other. When I win the lotto and can buy land in the middle of nowhere, I will get starlink.

Yes, will replace fibre for SL is more efficientand hopefully cheaper.

Im not a big gamer, but I think if Starlink can overcome the international ping times for gamers, eg playing on a UK/US/EU server from SA with 50-80ms ping then I think amongst gamers it will be quite attractive.

No point right now. The target market is for areas that have weak internet coverage or nothing at all. It is also great for those doing a lot of off road trips. I know most of those complaining about it are also not the target market.

I definitely will go all the way for Starlink. No fibre, pathetic cellphone reception - unable to operate my business when I am off site. Cannot wait ! ! !

I will get it for my parents, their internet is with a WISP, but need to get better reliability. It's a struggle, they can't even watch DSTV Now properly on a "15Mbps" line.

One of the biggest issues with rural Wisp services is the limited upload rate. As soon as you have a house full of devices (guests or family etc) the upload pipe can get choked, which makes everyone's experience suffer.
And that's without someone trying to stream:)

I am paying R999 for a unlimited LTE connection that barely gives me 20mb and I am rural, but close enough to town that that should not be the case. We have a tower on our estate and even that does not help as when there is any power interruption the batteries fail within about an hour then all cell service goes dark for a day or 2 till its fixed. I have used Starlink over the last few years many times at home and would not hesitate to sign up again. I also use 16 terminals linked for about a 3gb/s connection for my work and they never miss a beat and I am sailing all over the world. Even the rain fade is hardly noticeable.

Remember cloud cover has a big influence on download/upload.
This my experience I witnessed while using his internet.

Son has one in Zambia. Don't know on which package he operates under.

If prices were good it could be worth it as I work remotely and I have fibre but always a risk of fibre lines being stolen and then with load shedding it can’t be too difficult to keep starlink on backup

I signed up years ago, cancelled after the 3rd year of waiting, moved house to get fiber access, etc.
Might move my folks to it, or use it as my own backup, but depends on the costs.
