I'd love to try something different if I had the chance, but unfortunately, things do not look good so I don't have much of a choice.

In UK and likely to stay there...at least till passport. (Still need to work out whether ze germans are ok with that plan)

Beyond that...will need a financial hub that is English or German so Dublin, Frankfurt and Zurich could also work. Doubtful though - London is just so damn convenient even if rather grey.

Wouldn't mind living a bit further out and maybe building a house. This shoebox apartment stuff is BS

Isn't that usually very rainy, and cold as well?
Haven't been actually. But yeah that latitude is cold.

Reason is mostly English speaking part. My German is good but a little borderline for intense business meetings where nuances matter. So just easier to stay in the English speaking space

Edinburgh or Glasgow could also work...but they're kinda small and even colder

Sure, never said what happens in SA is normal. But the overreaction had to be seen to be believed.

What do you think of Switzerland, German sectors or otherwise? We like their politics.
Well my mom's friend who grew up Vienna then moved to US and is now retired in Switzerland likes it, very nice area and good system there, just quite expensive, so unless you know you can live on upper end, would not suggest.
Most of Germany is very good as well, Austria and Germany politics are quite hand in hand, but you'd have to compare cities more tbh.
Germany as immigrant might be easier if Berlin or Munich as larger economic sector, for IT I would choose Munich of the two.

Just spotted an old friend of mine in the store.... we were good mated when he worked here and on enquiring what he was doing here, "Training down at the airport" and to where he now resided after leaving for SA almost a decade ago, he has resided in three towns in SA, tensions got to much and now resides in Swakopmund, Namibia and says this is HOME, he felt the peace of the desert and the people.....

So People, Move to NAM,
The wife was born in Walvis. On our next trip there we’ll stop by the Home Affairs in Swakop to get her birth certificate & then ID and passport.

We looking at making a move to Nam one day

Speaking to former school friends and friends that now live in Oz, I would go to Australia.

They all say it is South Africa if it was run properly. Similar weather, similar lifestyle, similar interests.

If money was not a problem, Malta.
I thought you were meant to say, if money was not a problem, Australia..?

Born in Central Europe (lived there for 25 years), 1 year in the US, 6 years in the UK. Been all over (Scandinavia, middle east, Australia). There is nothing that compares to the lifestyle and freedom of SA (been here for 16 years). I ain't moving unless they really fkit up. And then most likely Namibia or Botswana. There's something special about Africa you don't get anywhere else.

And if all else fails, I'd go somewhere like Costa Rica. As far away from the western PC bullkak as possible
