Hi everyone,

I'm currently on holiday in Still Bay, but had to bring my laptop, HSDPA card, etc. from Pretoria with me for possible critical support that may be coming my way. According to the coverage map, 3G isn't even rolled out here as understandibly this place is not very high on the agenda compare to large metro regions.

So, I prepared myself for VPN, remote desktop connections, etc. over GPRS, but huge was my surprise when I arrived here and saw on my cellphone the cell info displaying "3G & HSDPA & EDGE enabled"!

Obviously I couldn't wait to get connected and have been doing so on and off the past couple of days without any hassles. Practically sitting on the beach while surfing at 1.8 Mbps - Now that's what I call mobile!

Anyway: Just wanted to thank Vodacom for doing such a great job with rolling out new technologies and helping to keep SA on the forefront of mobile communications.

Keep up the good work!!

I would love to see how all the guys from jobug who are coming for the holidays and oyster festiviel are going to connect to do there internet.

makes sense, there are so many wireless links in knysna it is scary. prehaps vodacom could look at other ways to bypass telkom, like a sattelight connection or bouncing from antenna to antenna.

I Went to Stilbaai in Feb, was also supprised to see I had a FULL 3G signal, plugged the notebook in and got 400K transfer speeds.
Since I started using 3G I have just been more and more impressed with Vodacom, can honestly say I have never had poor transfer speeds even though my work (Stellenbosch) and home (Table View) are not listed for 3G coverage.
Now about the 50c per meg data cost... :)
