Hi, looking to upgrade the ram in a 21.5in mid 2010 iMac. The current ram is 2x 2gb Hynix modules and would like to put in 2x 4gb.

Thing is I tried Kingston RAM and it Gabe kernel panics upon boot. Does anyone know what would be compatible?

Thanks

The maximum amount of RAM you can install in your computer is 16 GB (a 4 GB SO-DIMM in each slot).
You can use any Small-Outline dual inline memory modules (SO-DIMMS) that meet all of these criteria:
PC3-10600
Unbuffered
Nonparity
204-pin
1333 MHz
DDR3 SDRAM
You can use RAM module sizes of 2 GB or 4 GB in each slot.

The Kingston RAM used was exactly these specs.

Should have worked then. Never had a problem using Kingston in any of my macs. Have you run the apple hardware test?
