Image Retention 32-inch LCD

Hi

My parents bought their Samsung 32-inch HD-Ready LCD about 3 years go. Unfortunately in the middle of the screen there is a ghost image which is really annoying.

Googled the problem for solutions but nothing really helps. Unless anyone has overcome this kind of problem on this forum? Phoned up Samsung and they said we should take it in for repairs.

What's your advice should they buy a new tv or get it repaired? Not sure of the costs involved in repairing a problem like this.
