Hi

I have a Imate Jamin, when I connect using dialup in an Edge region and run any
speed test I'm getting speeds of 9 Kb/s which is slower than normal dial up. Can anyone give me some advice as what to check?

Thanks

Rom Version: 2.13.9.23 WWE (Which was the latest the last time I Checked)
It shows "E", hence the reason I said i'm in a Edge region :D

I'm sitting at full signal also.

Yip, just did the test now with another SIM (MTN 3G SIM), i'm still getting 30 - 40 kbps which is much slower than 250 kbps that Edge should be giving me. I have also tried it on another tower, same story.

I did a few more tests, with my SIM and the 3G sim, seems the speeds vary between 9 to 40 kpbs but never really more than that =(

I have tried phoning MTNSP, they weren't too much help.

I get about the same throughput when I connect my I-mate up to my PC as a modem and when I use it on it's own. The Network type doesn't make a difference, CellC, Virgin, MTN, all give the same slow throughput with the I-mate. The same sims in my edge data card however gives the "correct" throughput. I haven't really bothered to figure out why so I don't have a solution. :(

Unfortunatly I have not tried it that way round yet, I will do so when I can get hold of another 3G/Edge device.

Otherwise advise us on the forum where you are area and so forth and the rest of the guys can advise if they having a problem in the same area and if yes then we can investigate via the network

The two area's I have tried is Bryanston (Main and Norman rd) and Midrand (16th Road). Hope this helps, I would really love to get this sorted out. I will have a look if I can check this in more places to see if I get the same speeds and let you know. Thanks for the help so far DD :).
