Hey guys, I know there was a thread on Importdirect.co.za a while ago, but its been closed.

Well there is no point in talking about them any more anyway, seeing as the site seems to be gone. It went offline a while ago with promise that it was gona come back up soon. But now it just takes you to a site that is underconstruction, e1337.co.za. Im wondering if they will be offering the same service?

If not, or even if you have no idea, I desperatley want to import stuff (guitars, computer parts especially and anything else that is cheap) from the US. SO is there another cost effective way of doing this?

SO anyone know how to import stuff cheaply? Can it be done viably from the normal websites of internet reatailers for PC hardware. I want speakers mostly and just new hardware in general. Will bigish speakers be expensive to ship or not really? Im only looking at 2.1's anyone, but big quality ones.

Thanks for any help.

Ask Ap0c, he seems to buy from the U.S on a regular basis, maybe you can come to an agreement? :)

Ive seen both of these guys talking about this on the forum. You shure you can trust them?

Im not giving over my cash to just anyone who could screw me over.. I have very little money to start with.

Ill PM these guys though thanks.

Anyone have a actual way to get stuff shipped from the US? Id like to it myself or through a site like importdirect.co.za, seemed more reliable.

So where do ya'll get your PC stuff from? Do the big cheap US sites actually ship to SA?

Okay thanks guys, I sent him a PM, actually he got to me first but i didnt even notice.

And and I know that you werent being serious about Person, not shure why I said id try both of them out. Ive seen his great work with dotcomputers.

So how much did you guys pay for shippng and any profit he put on the components? Does weight play a big role, as I want to ship the speakers im talking about in the other thread. the Kilpsch 2.1's. They should weigh a bit more that most computer parts, but if you can get monitors.... LCD though im presuming.

Hi - I used to run www.importdirect.co.za with ApOc.
We got to busy with real world jobs, but you can still private ApOc, he still imports stuff on demand.
I think he still have the same rates.

+/- Dollar sale exchange + R 0.50 (so if the dollar is R 7 = $1 , work on R 7.50 - for credit card costs etc)
+/- R 120 per kg
+ 5-15% item price
+ local shipping (normally postnet R 120 door-to-door)

okay cool.. thats great, Ill try work that out. now how many lbs to a kg again? Damn americans..

EDIT: aah.. unfortuanatley the sub woofer alone is over 7kg's... So it will be aound 10kgs to ship. Which is exactly the same price as all of the other costs (inc. shipping, admin and actualy product cost!) put together.

So it wont be vialble for me anymore, unless he wants to be nice while hes shipping everything off at the same time and give me major diso**** on that part.

Otherwise I'll have to buy logitech z-2300's from SA. Not really looking forwartd to it, the Klipsch ones sounded so much better for my music and so much more proffessional.
