Good day

I am looking to buy some used electronic equipment from ebay and have a couple of concerns. ( I haven't bought from ebay before)
This is an example of what I am looking for. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Leica-Syst...719346?hash=item420b514e32:g:B~YAAOSw7nldf9ou

How would customs be charged?
Would I have issues with importing the batteries?
Regarding Ebays "international priority shipping" I'm hoping that they wouldn't use SAPO?

Thanks

Customs is like roulette.
The item linked does not include a battery, only a battery cable. Loose batteries will be difficult to import.
Yes, most likely sapo.

I guess their is also a good chance of running into ICASA problems.

If the item states in the shipping section that "This item will be shipped through the Global Shipping Program " the duties and vat etc are calculated at checkout and the item is delivered via Aramex and takes 5-10 days. Anything else is usually USPS service - try avoid this as it will move via SAPO. Do not ship batteries - unless in properly packaging and approved in advance the items will be seized and most likely destroyed with possible penalties.

SARS typically require that you have special Import Permits for the importation of any used items. AFAIK.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

I've contaced Scotts shipping services and it looks like that will be the best option in getting it here with minimal delays

Forgot to update this .My order arrived around the 20th December in perfect condition. Scott's shipping made it painless. I didn't have to provide any documents to customs etc.

Thanks @ScottulusMaximus
