In favor of cap for mywireless?

After yesterday when I saw what pings and downloads mywireless is capable of when the majority of the mywireless users still was offline I am almost in favor of a download cap.
I was thinking of lets say 20gig for 128k, 40gig for 256 and 80gig for 512.
This is only to maintain decent download speeds and decent pings. I know mywireless was advertised as 24/7 uncaped internet but as a last resort will you except something like this to improve the quality of mywireless for everyone?

ps. Now one hopes their network can handle 50% of the max that can be downloaded.

Uhm fACELESS - THE CAP IS pointless... If we're not able to achieve the correct speeds during the beginning of the month ...HOW do you think a cap will solve the problem ?

With the speeds we currently get, I won't even get to my CAP of 20Gigs in 1 year downloading 24/7

I don't see why we should even consider a cap.

I don't download much and I could not care whether it was capped or not, but, they sold us a service and they are not delivering. Period.

Conclusion is that my previous 56k service with c**p SP, was so much better, even with the down time I had on the telcom copper wire, it is still better than my-****ty-wireless.

Cap won't help until the last few days of the month when people start hitting it. The rest of the month you will still get crap service.

A better option is for Sentech to supply the advertised service.

Nope they just need to buy more bandwidth, no cap thanks

How the F@#% can anyone go over that kind of cap in 2 MONTHS with the current level of service???? At 9kbps (my current speed) I guess it would take me roughly 27 days of continuous 24/7 download to reach 20GB!

I'm against a cap in principle and I don't think that the issue faced at present has anything to do with the amount of downloads. The problem is that Sentech have not bought enough bandwidth. Telscum ADSL capping in effect only caps international bandwidth, your local bw is not badly effected when you are moved to another server after reaching 3GB. But MyWireless LOCAL speed is cr@p, international is not that much worse...but I can get better bandwidth by dialling in on my cellphone!

IF, and only IF, Sentech was prepared to talk to its customers, admit it has problems, talk to us about its problems and renegotiate its wholely one-sided contracts, would I consider it. Fact is, they say sod all about the crappy service they provide, preferring to talk through their lawyers and threaten customers who have a legitimate gripe.

A cap wont solve the problem.

The problem is that Sentech cannot evenly distribute their available bandwidth to their users. Some get hardly any while others get their full packages worth, and who the slow piggies are varies with time to boot [:D]

Local bandwith is virtually unlimited and yet even local access is a big problem for some users.

Capping international bandwidth will NOT solve the current problem.

IF they do cap they lose the only advantage they offer over ADSL.

Sentech HAS no BANDWIDTH. They cannot even supply enough LOCAL peering to sort out the problem, and as you may well realize, even after capped on ADSL, local speeds are still fine on ADSL. Sentech just can't cut it.

From the stats Marcel Raath showed me, I barely managed to do 20Gigs in 40 days, in any case.

A cap will resolve nothing. I was going to say that you are an utter twat, but I'll rephrase that. Your idea is ill-founded.

hehehe "ill-founded" ... I must say with such wording I might need a dictionary to wade through the new version of your site if/when it surfaces ;-)

A Cap would be against what we bought. Possibly breach of contract.

BTW, its not that your speed rose because others were offline. It just doesnt work that way. The bandwidth management system is not quite that smart. You were most likely placed in a "lucky" group that is allowed good speed.

There is only one allowable cap, a package cap. I dont mind being capped to 1.2GB a day. Thats what I understood when I starting handing over the money.

Besides, the slow speeds are already capping even the most ferocious of downloaders to about 20GB a month already. I guess this figure could be 30GB for 512kbps users in the good months..

20GB for the "power users" in the "lucky" good bandwidth groups in good months. I guess the average would be about 5-10GB.
