In what format do i save a document so that another person an use it like a template?

I have made a letterhead on Microsoft Office and Home 2010 and it has a logo/picture at the top of the page and now I need to send that document to someone to write on it but how?

I want it to be a sort of template so the other party can write on it. what do i save it as?

can some of you please help with this?

Yes it is definitely possible... Haven't used Office 2010 as yet, but Google is your friend...

.docx is just the format word 2010 uses (as opposed to just .doc)

You don't type in anthing. Just save as Word 1997-2003 or 2007 template.

does the extention .dotx mean it is a template cause thats what i tried.

Yes, that is it... that is what you want.

BUT now... she has to copy the dotx file to her templates folder on her PC so that it comes up as a new template option when she opens word. She can't just edit the dotx file... that won't work

Hi wayne

If they have Work 2007 loaded, then yes *.dotx is OK.
If they have an older version, then use *.dot
