At the end of the day, you are responsible for your life. If your employer is not giving you the remuneration you deserve, resign and move to an employer who will give you the same and pay more.

While it is true that pay inequality exists in the workplace, you have to fight for yourself... There are good employers who will pay you what you deserve and show commitment in investing in your growth... if you settle for less, that's your problem.

Well while so many black people are busy running around in the streets, burning, looting, throwing stones, vandalizing schools, invading land, chasing foreigners and slaughtering sheep, those pesky whites are busy stealing their jobs while they're not looking and working hard, building and creating opportunities to make a decent living for themselves without relying and waiting on free guvment handouts.

The black anc cadre is also busy getting fatter and richer than pretty much any Saffer out there.

That being said though, I think the average black in the burbs is getting richer than the average white. Don't know where so many 20-something year olds get the money to buy expensive luxury cars.

There is no lie or shortcomings in what I have said. I don't buy into the "there are no jobs" sentiment. There are jobs out there, but there not so many companies that harbour a healthy working culture, invest in staff and pay people what they deserve. Of course, this statement won't hold much for other professions [I'm in IT].

Indeed, it isn't so easy getting something; you will probably have to apply at many potential companies, get turned down at one or two interviews, if you pass their assessment phase. If you keep at it, you will find something worth your time. Companies are starting to have these conversations; fair pay across all genders, crafting a diverse workforce, employing newer work strategies [working from home, the 4-day week], and effecting such changes will take some time. Don't wait on anyone or anything, if you gotta go, go!

People should really learn to stand up for themselves; stop blaming things on other factors (i.e.: the race card). I left my first employer because there was little/no room for growth, lack of investment in staff, low pay, and a worrying company culture... only 4.5 months into the job before leaving Good employers are scarce.

Hehehe so much truth in this. I have seen and heard of stories of people who went this route and ended up crashing and burning. I believe this is a case of people feeling pressured to show people (who probably don't care) that they winning in life and are doing so much better. Sometimes having less is more.

Statistician-general Risenga Maluleke said the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo, with large rural populations, had a larger share of chronically poor households.

This is because any reasonably educated black person moves to the city when given half a chance.

He said while economic inequality had decreased for Indians/Asians and whites, it remained fairly constant for coloureds and increased for black Africans.

If this is not an indictment of just how much BEE has failed then I don't know what could be.

Open up the labour market so as to allow voluntary employer-employee arrangements preferably, or the long-term unemployed to enter into voluntary contractual arrangements with employers on any basis that is acceptable to them.

In order for it to be truly free and voluntary there has to be no information or power asymmetry.

While I agree that there is always ways to make sure you earn what you should, I believe the biggest problem we have is the fact that a black and white individual might have similar experience and the same qualification, the white individual will almost always receive a better offer. I think that is what the article points to...

White folk don't find themselves in positions where they have to do cartwheels for what they deserve. Period.
