OUR SADC leaders are failing to broker a power-sharing deal between Zimbabwe’s political rivals, so one of the SADC countries should take over Zimbabwe as one of its provinces. In this way Zimbabwe can be rebuilt. — Vincent Rikhotso, Parktown

With this arrangement , Robert Mugabe could be the premier of Harare, and Morgan Tsvangirai can be the premier of Bulawayo .

With this kind of a deal, everyone will, we can hope, be happy.

South Africa is in a good position to add more provinces and become a bigger state.

A fter all, many Zimbabweans see South Africa as their great hope, after all the agony Mugabe has put them through.

South Africa is a diverse country; adding Zimbabwe will broaden our diversity.

We will find a better way of integrating Zimbabwe’s political parties into our own politics. It won’t hurt South Africa that much.

The long term benefits might outweigh the costs.

I'll welcome this move. Zimbabwe will be a beautiful province. And since South Africa is a very dry country, we need Zim's water.

Incorporate them! :p

Might have worked 10 years ago, even 5 maybe, but it is too late now, IMO. Zim is in just too bad a shape at the moment. It might even pull us down with it.

That's the most ridiculous idea I've ever heard. The only way for Zim ever to rise from the ruins is to get rid of that despicable dictator Mugabe. Period.

IMO many people (including myself) wouldn't want Zim incorporated in SA, we have enough problems to deal with, why on earth would we want to deal with Zim and Mugabe. It will drag us down.

the only issue Zim really has is getting rid of Mugabe and then the majority of his followers......

It must be said though, millions of Zimbabweans have already inorporated into SA, so us annexing their land won't make a difference :D

Maybe this will be a way of getting rid of him?

Why is Zim SA's baby? Why not incorporate it into Botswana of Mozambique?

We are the African "powerhouse"

Botswana built high walls at their border to keep Zimbabweans out :D Botswana is also seen as a western puppet by Mugabe so I doubt he will even let Botswana help in anyway to improve Zimbabwe.

Somebody has to do something, coz all the Zims are running to SA already.
Botswana is another country that is in a "better" economic situation than Moz I think. Maybe part of Zim to Botswana and another one to SA. It won't happen I know, but.

Imagine the human rights abuse outcry if SA did that...

In 2003, Botswana began building a 300-mile-long electric fence along its border with Zimbabwe. The official reason for the fence is to stop the spread of foot-and-mouth disease among livestock. Zimbabweans argue that the height of the fence is clearly intended to keep out people. Botswana has responded that the fence is designed to keep out cattle, and to ensure that entrants have their shoes disinfected at legal border crossings. Botswana also argued that the government continues to encourage legal movement into the country. Zimbabwe was unconvinced, and the barrier remains a source of tension between the two nations.

Where there is a will there's a way :p

Let's reverse the situation. Would you want Zimbabwe to rescue you to get rid of Zuma (if Zuma was like Bob)?

It's not like we're heading in that direction anyway......

Off Topic:

Political analyst Moeletsi Mbeki believes the motives are more sinister.

Moeletsi Mbeki (Political analyst): "Mugabe is now looking or a pretext in order to amass his army on the border with Botswana. So he is building up a case, a false case, but nonetheless he's building up a case in order to prepare for either a direct invasion of Botswana or to amass an army and compel the president of Botswana to recognise him as the president of Zimbabwe."

Derek: "How would it help Zimbabwe or Robert Mugabe to attack Botswana?"

Moeletsi: "Mugabe see's Botswana as a potential safe base for the MDC, so he doesn't want Botswana to play that role so he has to terrorise Botswana not to even begin playing that role."

Derek: "Surely that's more of a diplomatic issue?"

Moeletse: "No, it's not a diplomatic issue because in fact Botswana has been very open to the opposition, to Morgan Tsvangarai. They have given him whatever temporary asylum he wants in Botswana."

That was rather chilling
