So here's an interesting question.
I have a smart meter at home.
It's a home I moved into 3 years ago.
My electricity bill comes, and I pay it. Only in recent discussions with other people have I realized that my usage is very low (actual readings, not estimates.
I thought maybe it was because I have gas, and we dont use the oven much, we rely more on blankets than heaters etc etc.

I recently put in a solar system, and it has nice monitoring tools.
I can see now that there is a considerable difference between what's used vs whats reflecting on the smart meter.

e.g.
Meter says I used 10khw.
Inverter says I used 38kwh

Anyone had this before? Obviously I am not going to phone up eskom and ask why. And I would just play dumb if ever asked. But any idea what could cause this?
Or am i just heading for a world of pain one day in the future

World of pain... but might not catch up with you.

What has most likely happened is that your meter is linked to someone else's account and vice versa.
You might be able to slime out of it by getting a new meter but I think at some point the other person might complain.

How much is you monthly bill ?
EDIT: Check your meter number on the meter and compare it to your bill/account.

ill check the meter number
the reason why i dont think its an account mismatch is because the smartmeter monitor in my house tallies up to the bill

The meter is obviously only what is used by the mains, the inverter is what it has supplied to the house and potentially what is used via the mains. Are you sure you are comparing apples with apples?

maybe not, thats why I am asking.
but my inverter tells me how many kwh was pulled from the grid, and that doesnt tally up to the meter.

Grid or solar? As you've got a solar system installed so it's probably the batteries charging from the sun as well?

possible. as said above i might be comparing apples to watermelons

What is your use from grid, from solar and from battery according to the inverter?

my daily BUY is higher than what the meter says - so now im confused
