It doesnt have SA as option in setup. So yep a parallel import from Indonesia/Malaysia I'm sure.
But updated my OS and it has english uk/usa so fine.
Performs well. My teenager very happy and she had a s5 galaxy. Feels very light ito weight.

Want to utilise the dual sim. Any recommendations for prepaid data sim deal?

Get a SIM from your nearest Pakistani cell phone repair shop and load airtime / data using Internet banking. My preference is Cell C cos their prepaid bundles are very reasonable, if a bit confusing.

Also looking forward to testing out the dual sim. I got the Cell C R99 5GB mifi deal earlier this year. It will be a relief not to carry(and charge) two devices.

not considering a data contract option?

It depends on the network performance in your area. Cell C offers good bundle deals. I'm using Afrihost for data on my Redmi. I like their Client Zone and mobile app. It's month to month so you can cancel or change the package as required, and don't have to worry about loading data bundles or airtime every month.

Depending on how much data you need and if you're willing to go the contract route, Cell C and Telkom offer some good deals.

I'm also getting the phones for my two teen sons. Looks like there'll be quite a few teens using Xiaomi. Hopefully the brand will take off with the youth.

I received one phone yesterday and it had a sticker with the ICASA logo and MIA website on the plastic wrap. So it looks like the devices will be supported by the local distributor.

Initially I also noticed that SA was not in the regions option but after doing two OTA updates it now has SA listed.

Nice to get a free cover as well.

My guess would be, buy the IC vouchers @ 40% discount on ebucks, then buy the phone / ipad / whatever deal and get the rebate on wechat, so likely yes.

It's a WeChat promotion, not really an IC promotion. IC is doing fulfillment.

So you need to find a way of loading credit onto WeChat or linking a credit card to it. Not sure how eBucks can be redeemed for WeChat credit.

Wechat wallet is run by Standard Bank so there might be a way of using their rewards program.
